No Gamecube (i.e. mat) outlets, but at least it’s cheap, and cute.
Nintendo of America has confirmed that the budget Wii Mini console will be launching in North America this month. The Wii Mini is priced at $99 and comes with a WiiMote, Nunchuck, and a free copy of the best-selling Mario Kart Wii. The Wii Mini has been a controversial console for Nintendo as it lacks a number of key features including online functionality and Gamecube compatibility.
“Wii mini offers the same fun experience as Wii, which has been enjoyed by millions of people around the world,” said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “And it comes packaged with Mario Kart Wii, a multiplayer Mario racing game that is one of the best-selling Wii games. At such a great price, it is an extraordinary value for shoppers this holiday season.”
Joystiq reports that the Wii Fit version for the Wii U platform, Wii Fit U (clever name!) will be coming in the first half of 2013. The game will come with a pedometer in addition to the familiar balance board, so maybe they’re waiting for weather to be nice enough for walking here in the northern hemisphere.
The Cyberbike exercise-bike-controller-plus-game for Wii is now out, and one reviewer on Amazon likes it, despite an uncomfortable seat and a little trouble getting started because the switch wasn’t turned on.
The review ends on a high note with:
“All that being said, I had a blast riding through the cartoonish country roads and skidding along mine train tracks. Time flew by.
I really think this game would appeal to anyone who enjoys Walk It Out.”
Now THAT pushes my “want” button! It’s $200, but maybe Santa will be good to me this year…
Hi and welcome! This first post will be kind of quick-and-dirty since both my kids have come down with summertime colds.
After a lame attempt at blogging here, this is my first “real” blog. It will have two main purposes: tracking my workouts, and providing news about video games with a fitness flavor or are just plain fun to play. Right now I have no connections or affiliations with the companies that make any of these games – all opinions here are just mine.
That’s it for now. Blogs and websites tend to be like closets and spare rooms: stuff has a tendency to expand in order to fill it! So I hope to bring more interesting “stuff” soon.
Thanks for coming by!
